Salvajor was founded in the early 1940s by George C. Hohl, who wanted to make a waste handling system for the foodservice industry. However, steel was nearly unobtainable due to World...
War II, and Hohl worked his way to Washington, D.C., to the War Production Board to get a steel allotment. Hohl proved to the board that his machine, the Salvajor Senior, could save thousands of dollars in flatware that was being destroyed in the nation's military camps. The board approved him, and went a further step by recommending his product to the Department of the Army, which ordered 600 units. Today, Salvajor continues to manufacture incredible waste disposers and collectors. Salvajor took home the 2015 Foodservice Equipment and Supplies Best in Class Overall award for disposers.
